Wastewater treatment

Anaerobic and aerobic wastewater plant

Organic wastewater on these projects is usually treated in two steps. Anaerobic digestion, in a covered digester or a stirred tank, converts most of the oxygen demand into biogas. Aerobic polishing, often a sequencing batch reactor in one vessel, then takes the remaining organic load and can remove nitrogen and phosphorus before discharge.

The anaerobic step is the energy step. The aerobic step is the compliance step. Sizing both depends on measured chemical and biological oxygen demand, not on a brochure loading rate. BioJejak records the batches and the evidence; it does not replace the laboratory result.
