Sumatra bio-LNG

The note describes a proposed plant in South Sumatra, west of Palembang, that would grow tropical energy crops and turn them into bio-LNG. Biogas from large in-ground digesters would be supplemented with renewable hydrogen so biological methanation converts the biogenic carbon dioxide into more methane, then the gas would be liquefied. The stated output is about 1.3 PJ of LNG a year. It is a project note, not a plant in operation.
The note includes an on-site solar array and battery to supply the electrolysis and the plant.
Technology: bio-LNG, hydrogen biomethanisation, and solar PV and battery storage.
