Bio-CNG

Compressed biomethane cylinders on a tube trailer

Bio-CNG is upgraded biomethane that has been compressed, not liquefied. It is the form used when the gas is filled into cylinders or a tube trailer for a vehicle fleet or a customer who is not on a pipeline.

The chain is digester, sulfide removal, then upgrading to a methane-rich gas, then compression into the store. The upgrade ahead of that compression is a membrane, an amine scrubber, or hydrogen biomethanisation. A cascade stops at 65 percent methane and is not this feed. Bio-LNG is the same gas taken one step further, to a liquid. Compression and liquefaction are not the same duty.
