Sustainable aviation fuel

Sustainable aviation fuel is a jet fuel made from renewable feedstock and certified for blending with conventional jet fuel. One route in the project notes is Fischer–Tropsch synthetic paraffinic kerosene from biogas, aimed at ASTM D7566. Other routes, including alcohol-to-jet and oils, have different carbon and cost arithmetic. The briefings treat those routes separately and do not treat them as interchangeable.
See the Northern Territory case study, the ethanol-to-jet and methanol-to-jet briefings, and solar PV and battery storage where the plant carries its own power supply.
